MARY'S CRS STORY

I was first introduced to the Louis August Jonas Foundation through BoardAssist, and the organization’s mission immediately struck a chord with me. I deeply believe in creating dedicated spaces where individuals can learn, engage, and grow into the best versions of themselves, ultimately equipping them to give back to their communities and society. What inspired me most about LAJF and Camp Rising Sun is its commitment to an inclusive, globally-scaled environment—particularly for youth who might not otherwise have access to these life-changing opportunities. Growing up in the Midwest as part of a first-generation family navigating a new country and culture, summer camps were not part of my landscape. I understand firsthand the barriers to these types of formative experiences. Finally, on a personal note, my husband grew up just minutes from Camp Rising Sun, so the Red Hook and Rhinebeck area holds a very special place in my heart. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to LAJF’s continued success and enduring impact.
