Each year, two outstanding young Israeli leaders, a girl and a boy, participate in a unique international leadership program,Camp Rising Sun. Camp Rising Sun is a full-scholarship, 4 weeks program in the US whose mission is to develop in promising young people from around the world a lifelong commitment to leadership for the betterment of their communities and the world. A total of 60 campers participate during each session, representing more than 25 countries. Through their participation, the Israeli campers teach other young leaders about the real face of Israel. In return, they also learn about other parts of the world. They return to Israel with necessary skills and the motivation to act for the betterment of our community.

Israeli boy campers have attended Camp Rising Sun since the 1950s. Israeli girls have attended Camp since the the first summer of the girls' program in 1989. In recent years, an Israeli Alumni Association (NPO) has been created in order to formalize the activity of Camp's alumni in Israel and strengthen the relationships between the Israeli alumni. Since then, the Alumni Association has developed an intensive selection process, consistently selecting outstanding campers to attend each summer.
Unfortunately, financial support from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs that was regularly used to purchase the plane tickets for the two campers has stopped. We are now standing in danger of not being able to send our two, already selected, campers. Kessem Rom is the only Israeli girl attending Camp this year. Kessem was selected because she best represents the values and culture of Israel.
Help us secure Kessem's participation in this important place. Donate to our cause to help fund her travel costs: the flight ticket from Israel to New York City. Every little bit counts! We know that these two young leaders will grow significantly at Camp and will continue to pay this generosity and kindness forward.
